Environmentally friendly, smencils scented pencils are made from 100% recycled newspaper sheets instead of wood.  You can even see the compressed layers of newspaper when you sharpen them.  The #2 graphite writing core is the same as those used in common pencils and acceptable on computer scanned test sheets.
