No Calorie, Easy Self-care: Simple Ways to Savor and Indulge Without Gaining Weight

(excerpt)

Mother’s Day is approaching, and I’m continually being asked—

“How do I fit in self-care?”

“How do I actually indulge and reward myself without turning to food?”

“I’m out of practice—what are some do-able and easy self-care ideas?”

High quality self-care begins with good intentions, but it only counts when you find ways to follow through, put yourself first, and prioritize and act on the things that make you shine and feel fabulous.

Spa Day for the Time-challenged

If a bubble bath sounds delightful but you just don’t have the time, an Aromatherapy Shower Burst might be what you’re looking for. When taking a bath isn’t an option these 100% natural Shower Bursts transform your ordinary shower into an aromatherapy experience. Place one burst on the floor in the shower and let the indirect spray activate the aromatherapy experience.  Made of 100% essential oils, you can pick a scent that fits your mood. Oh, and in case you wonder like I did, they don’t make a mess or leave gunk in your shower.

Life is too short not to live your best version of it. I hope this list helps you infuse more high quality self-care into your days.

Thank you Melissa for choosing to include our shower bursts in your article!

TheFrisky.com Crave Feature

-Amelia McDonell-Parry

When I was growing up, one of life’s greatest pleasures was going over to my grandmother’s house and making Coke slushies and microwaved s’mores. These days, I can still make s’mores when I’ve got the hankering, but my homemade slushie cravings have long gone unquenched because I lacked the proper device—but not anymore! The Slush Mug is back, baby! This retro mug miraculously turns your favorite tasty beverage into frozen slush thanks to the highly scientific “Glaciercore.” Plus, now that I’m of age, I can use it to make alcoholic versions of my old favorites. Jack and Coke Slushies, anyone?

[$9.95, Catching Fireflies]

Thank you Amelia for the fantastic feature.  Slush mugs are flying out our doors thanks to you.  Cheers to a sweet summer filled with tasty slushies!

Whimsical gifts that smell good too. Well, not all of them but some of
them. Catching Fireflies offer so many adorable gifts that you won’t be
able to choose just one. My daughter and I have had a great time
looking at their site and going over the goodies they have to offer.
They have a variety of gifts and goodies that are fun for everyone. The site itself is just happy.

A set of 5 erasers,
packaged in their own cute little “juice containers”, ready to go as a
gift. Scented to match their cartons, as good as they smell, resist the
temptation to take a bite, they are not edible!

  • Mixed Fruit Juice
  • Grape
  • Milk
  • Chocolate
  • Strawberry

One of my sneaky kind of Mom things to do is to leave my kids a note
somewhere that they’ll find it another day. Usually it’s something
like: “You left your notebook on the table, Mom wuz here! Love, Mom!”
And I’ll date it. I might use the eraser cartons and drop them in with
a note attached, or an always needed pencil
with a note that says “knew you’d need this, Love Mom!” I like to leave
them guessing on what I might do when they aren’t around. :) I feel like I’m leaving them a random smile to be found when they aren’t looking.

Each set of fuzzy wuzzy pencils come in a set of 24, and are cute as a button!

Thanks Rose for reviewing our fun back to school items!  Click HERE to enter this giveaway (ends 9.15.10)

"Catching Fireflies has cute products for all occasions. When it comes
to back to school shopping, it’s a great idea to put a little fun into
your supplies and accessories.

The “Super Student” Brag Board
is a great way to show off your child’s schoolwork. The wood board is
4″ x 11″ and has 2 clips attached. It can help reduce refrigerator
clutter by having a special location to highlight your student’s
accomplishments.

The Brag Board is handmade and looks professional. If the “Super
Student” board isn’t right for you, there are other cute styles to
choose from.

I had heard about Smencils, but hadn’t tried them until now. They are even better than I expected.

The pencils are made from recycled newspaper instead of wood and
they are packaged in a corn-based biodegradable plastic tube. I like
the eco-friendliness but what I really like is the amazing aroma. The
pencils have been soaked in stimulating peppermint oil – just perks you
right up when you smell it! And a little extra perkiness is great for
when kids are needing to focus on homework or a test."

Thanks Valerie for such a great review & for hosting a giveaway of our great goods!

Let's face it, even if you LOVE your desk job, you probably don't LOVE
every second of it–endless conference calls, meetings about meetings,
getting cornered in the lunchroom by the close-talker, post-tuna
sandwich…. But sometimes all it takes is a little pick-me-up to
lighten the mood, and that's why the goddess of office
supplies invented tabletop accessories that aren't just practical but
also pretty and fun. I'm not afraid to admit that, more than once,
sharpening my pencil in the business end of a hand-painted vintage
canary has been the highlight of my workday. So, desk jockeys, this
one's for you.

Alligator Stapler from Catching Fireflies, $16.95. Because it just makes sense.

Thank you Style Lush for showcasing our clever friend.  Check out the rest of their fun office finds HERE.
