what have you found on pinterest?

I have been an official pinner for 10 months and have found SO MANY wonderful things on this ongoing visually stimulating treasure hunt…

The biggest find for me is definitely inspiration -whether it be redesigning my kitchen, looking for interesting shop displays, coming across quotes that speak to me, trying new recipes or  even planning a Halloween party – pinterest is a one of the first places I visit to get my shot of capital I.

Eye candy is oh-so-sweet plus there’s no calories :-)  Pinning beautiful things is my little escape… when I’m looking for color inspiration, pretty plant & posy pairings, ridiculously lovely images or finding favorite tunes – all this beauty is for me to enjoy with the click of a few computer keys.

They say laughter is the best medicine so when I need a little release of endorphins I know silly pictures of animals usually triggers a giggle or two, plus a bit of sarcasm mixed with some of humor also gives the smile muscles a good workout.

Holy smokes!  There are SO many creative people in this world and LOTS of them pin loads of clever & crafty ideas.  I’ve tried many new cool things this past year —creativity is contagious!

Obviously I can’t buy everything that catches my eye, but there is definitely some reward in pinning  pictures of them to my hip clothes, cute shoes, etsy finds & great goodies boards.  That way when the husband is scratching his head for gift ideas, I can always send him a link to a board or two ;-)

If you like this sampling of our pin boards, we invite you to follow us HERE.  Or if you’re not on this amazing site yet, send us an email with the subject line: TAKE ME TO PINTEREST & we’ll invite you to start curating your very own collection of  fantastic finds.

A must-watch show for Michiganders

Under the radar
I stumbled onto this gem of show while channel surfing recently & discovered a number of new places that I need to visit in the mitten.

One of the episodes features the great town of Rochester & catching fireflies even got a brief screen shot.  And after watching the segment, I found out that there was an awesome skate park and great polish restaurant right down the street!

Other episodes include Ann Arbor, Port Austin, Grand Rapids, Cadillac, Detroit & Battle Creek… just to name a few.  Under the Radar airs on Public Television, but you can also watch all the episodes online.  They’re great inspiration for a day trip or weekend get-away in our great state.

tastebook – it could be your next addiction

I read about these guys in Entrepreneur Magazine and I have to agree… this is a pretty slick idea.  Here's a little bit about TasteBook

We started with a very simple idea—to remix the cookbook. As a
group of food-loving, culinary junkies who aspire to become great cooks
someday, we set out to create the perfect cookbook:

  • A personal cookbook that reflects individual tastes, cultures, and culinary aspirations.
  • A fresh cookbook that's never frozen. You can add more recipes whenever you want.
  • A collaborative cookbook that's made with a little help from your friends.

Tastebook1

The cool thing is you can mix your personal favorite recipes with a HUGE variety of other recipes from top chefs around the world.  I just typed in "Valentine Treats" in the search box and hundreds scrumptious recipes appeared before my eyes.  Here are just a few that look super tempting…

Tastebook2
Talk about winning over your lover's heart with treats for their taste buds – just sign me up for anything that has cream cheese and sugar in the ingredient list.  Let me know if you find your next favorite dish or treat on this snazzy site.
